cardio·medium intensity·none

Life does not happen in a straight line. You sidestep around furniture, dodge a puddle, catch yourself when someone bumps into you at a market. Lateral shuffles train the exact movement pattern that keeps you stable in all those moments. Low stance, quick feet, hips loaded. It is cardio and agility packed into one drill.

How to Do Lateral Shuffle

1

Set up in the starting position for lateral shuffle. Feet hip-width apart (or as the exercise requires). Engage your core before initiating any movement.

2

Begin the movement with control. Linda Chambers cues: "keep your feet real light, moving into the balls of the feet"

3

Complete the full range of motion. "bend your knees, three or four steps to the side"

4

Return to the starting position with control. Don't rush the eccentric (lowering) phase.

Linda Chambers adds: "outer leg is always the one that's moving fast"
